Background and Qualifications
I am a highly qualified and versatile musician with over thirty years music teaching experience.
Music has always played avery significant role in my life. At the age of 14 I was awarded a Local Centre Scholarship to the Royal Irish Academy of Music (R.I.A.M.) where I studied Piano with Anthony Glavin L.R.I.A.M. Having decided to study Music at Third Level, and also having discovered my enthusiasm for teaching, I began to teach Piano privately in 1990. I also acted as Deputy Piano teacher for Anthony Glavin at the R.I.A.M. on many occasions.
I hold an Honours B.A.Mod (Music) from Trinity College Dublin and an Honours M.A. in Musicology/Ethnomusicology from University College Dublin. I also obtained an Honours A.R.I.A.M. Diploma in Piano Performance and an L.R.I.A.M Diploma in Piano Teaching.
I am also a qualified and experienced Second Level Music Teacher, having taught both the Leaving Certificate and A-Level curriculum in both the UK and Ireland. Additionally, I have worked as a local centre examiner for the R.I.A.M, and as an A-Level Music.examiner in the UK.
Teaching Experience
I have a lifelong love of and commitment to music. As a teacher I am committed to high standards, reflected in the various successes achieved by my students. I have encouraged many students to reach their optimum musical potential - several of whom have furthered their own musical studies at third level. My students have achieved many distinctions up to senior certificate at local centre examinations, and A Grades in both Leaving Certificate and A-Level Practical Examinations. I am committed to the provision of high quality music tuition in the west of Ireland and to ensuring that each individual child experiences enjoyment from music making.

Classes
I offer piano tuition on an individual basis. Lesson duration can vary from 30 to 60 minutes according to the level/goals of the individual student.
I prepare students for both Grade and Diploma examinations and have experience in preparing for all of the main exam boards: Royal Irish Academy of Music, Associated Board, and Trinity College London. Additionally I provide theory classes for R.I.A.M. and Associated Board examinations up to grade 8, and classes for preparation for the Aural and written components of the Diploma examinations of all of the above boards.
